The Cayin RU9 earns a spot on my desk for a different reason than the RU7: it’s the first “dongle” with real Nutube tube timbre options AND the grunt to make any ZMF sing. I flip between Classic/Modern tube for that ZMF warmth and body, or Solid-State when I want it neutral. It also features true line-outs, making it a killer mini-DAC for my amps. Stuff ia always ina nd out the door from my desk for the big rigs, but I have kept the RU7 and now the RU9 as a mainstay because it's just so convenient. I also switch back and forth between a Mac and PC a lot, and when I'm feeling lazy the bluetooth option is perfect.
