We've used Cocobolo sparingly over the years due to its density, rarity, and the sheer challenge it presents during crafting—but when we do, it's always for something special. This limited run showcases hand-selected, highly figured Cocobolo, sourced from sustainably harvested Central American stock and seasoned in our private wood reserve.

At ZMF, our use of Cocobolo is rooted in reverence—for both its acoustic properties and its visual allure. Cocobolo isn’t just a wood; it’s an experience. It brings a unique sonic weight and clarity, pairing beautifully with the Caldera Closed's planar driver to provide rich mids, articulate treble, and that unmistakable sub-bass slam.

ZMF's first fully closed planar headphone, built from the Caldera Open platform and winner of Headfonics Best Ortho 2023. Featuring our patented Atrium Damping System, Caldera Pad, and CAMS (Caldera Asymmetrical Magnet Structure) driver tech, the Caldera Closed offers a refined, immersive sound in a fully isolated form.

Sonically, the Closed version retains the speed, immediacy, and lushness of the Open, but brings in tighter sub-bass, more intimate vocals, and a slightly closer-to-Harman tuning—all while offering the isolation you’d expect from a true closed-back.
