Walnut Burl
Walnut Burl represents nature's most prized wood formation—born from stress and time in the making. Burls develop when walnut trees respond to injury or environmental stress by producing massive, chaotic growth nodes filled with wild, swirling grain patterns. Each burl cup reveals the possibility of eyes, mineral streaking, and figure ranging from deep chocolate browns to warm amber tones with darker mahogany accents.
Sonically, burl walnut's dense, complex structure provides excellent damping and warmth that perfectly complements the Caldera's planar precision. The chaotic grain orientation—nature's response to stress—creates natural acoustic complexity that adds subtle harmonic richness to the Caldera's already legendary resolution. The wood's density enhances bass texture and weight while the intricate figure helps control resonance, allowing the patented CAMS magnet structure and silver-coated diaphragm to deliver their full potential. The result maintains the Caldera's expansive controlled stage and detailed midrange while adding organic warmth and timbral accuracy that makes acoustic instruments breathe with life.
This Spring 2026 Limited Edition features brass grilles with black cloth, creating warm contrast against the burl's rich chocolate tones. Choose a black aluminum chassis with black rods, and an optional black B.B.B. add-on (installed), or upgrade to an Amber Mg12 Chassis with brass rods and matching Amber B.B.B.
Please note that the wild figuring and chaotic grain of Walnut Burl will result in fills, which are not flaws but part of the distinctive beauty of the wood.
