The iDAC - 8 is the much awaited successor to the iDAC - 6, while they may seem quite similar, Cayin has changed to an AK chip that to my ears adds euphony, spaciousness and depth while providing a slightly more analogue and mature sound. Having both tube and solid state timbre along with a fully balanced design makes this an easy recommendation for anyone wanting a high end DAC that will sound as good as the big boys, fit on your desk well, and not kill your bank account. It compares beautifully with units costing multiples of it's own price.
